You’ll Never, Never Know, Until you go

1st Mar 2022

This is the Australia we all think we live in. The empty red centre is the Northern Territory. Your caravan can sense when you even think about going there. It’s where it wants to be. This is the place people go to when they want to forget and find out who they really are.

Are you ready?
Berry Springs National Park

Just out of Darwin is Berry Springs National Park, where you can work up a sweat bushwalking to its historical ruins from WWII, do a bit of bird watching, smell the beautiful native flowers (blooming from March-April) and finally escape the heat and go for a dip in one of the many spring water pools (Always check the croc situation whenever you go into the water in the Northern Territory. If the sign says don’t swimmer’s not a suggestion it’s the rule).

Cutta Cutta Caves National Park

A mere 30kms south of Katherine to find Cutta Cutta Caves National Park in the NT that sort of distance is nothing. Cutta Cotta Caves is a spectacular limestone landscape that covers a hair under 1500 hectares for you to explore. Chock-full of impressive stalagmites (these poke up from the ground), stalactites (these hang from the ceiling) and wildlife (including 5 species of bats – none of them is the caped crusader) Touring through the caves on the guided tour is great fun. There are also some bushwalking and bird watching opportunities in the park outside the caves.

Litchfield National Park

Litchfield National Park is simply beautiful. You really must go there. Check it out properly, sights include the Lost City’s sandstone pillars, pools with crystal-clear water great for swimming, waterfalls and termite mounds. Set up camp at the Litchfield Tourist Park – it’s got great facilities and is in the perfect location.

Erldunda

When people fall off the face of the earth  Erldunda is where they have most likely gone. Never have you been better-placed to leave work emails and other worries of everyday life behind than when you visit Erldunda, a couple of hundred k’s southwest of Alice Springs (the centre of the centre, as locals refer to it).

Erldunda Roadhouse is just an awesome place to park up the van for a week, offering facilities including a swimming pool, tennis court and restaurant/bar. Maybe best of all, there’s really nothing else around which means you can kick back, relax and forget about life’s stresses.

We hope you make it to the Northern Territory it truly is one of the most beautiful untouched places on earth.
